The Discipline of All Caps

Maximilian Rupp

Maximilian Rupp @maximilianrupp

Founder of HACOY. Painter. Writes about non linear thinking and conscious living.

I write HACOY in all capital letters because it's a simple way to instill order and discipline into something as trivial as typing. Each time I type those five uppercase letters, I'm reminded of the precision and control needed to maintain a brand like mine. It’s about making small decisions that add up over time, much like choosing which brushstroke goes where on my canvases or selecting each word carefully when I write about non linear thinking.

Discipline is integral to running HACOY. Every piece we produce in Italy or Lithuania must adhere to strict standards of quality and ethics. Writing the brand name in all caps is a way for me to stay grounded, a reminder that no detail is too small to be overlooked. This attention to detail extends beyond the brand itself; it’s also about how I interact with our local AI agents. Each task delegated to them requires clear instructions and boundaries, just as each letter of HACOY demands its proper form.

I find myself thinking about this discipline even when I’m not working on a new collection or a dispatch like this one. Last weekend, while painting in my studio, the act of choosing which color goes where was a similar exercise in control and precision. Each decision is deliberate, much like hitting that Caps Lock key every time HACOY appears.
