The Choice of Cloth in Our Clothing

Founder of HACOY. Painter. Writes about non linear thinking and conscious living.

There is a quiet satisfaction in knowing where my clothes come from. It starts with the material. For HACOY swimwear and activewear, it is Italy. The country's textile tradition is long and rich. I have seen the factories. They are old buildings with high ceilings, filled with machines that hum softly as they weave fabric. The air is warm and damp. It smells of cotton and industry. I like to think our clothes carry a bit of that atmosphere, even after they leave Italy. Lithuania is where HACOY linen home office clothing comes from. The land there is flat and green. The people are calm. They know how to make things last. I remember the first time I saw linen being woven in Lithuania. It was a cold day but the workshop was warm with activity. The sound of looms filling the air. The linen threads were golden, raw material from local farms. I choose Italy for our swimwear and activewear because the textile industry there is robust. The factories are equipped to handle the technical demands of these garments. They understand the nuances of fabric that needs to stretch and move with the body. For home office clothing, it's Lithuania. Linen is a natural fit for the country. It breathes well, which is important when you're spending long hours at your desk. The linen we use is light yet durable. It ages beautifully, developing a soft sheen over time. I find comfort in these details.
